Born in New York in 1942, the son of Jewish immigrants, Calvin Klein studied fashion design at an institute in Manhattan and worked for various fashion houses after graduating. At the age of 25, he finally founded his own company at the end of 1967 - Calvin Klein Incorporated, which is still known all over the world today. The following year, in the spring of 1968, the young designer presented his first collection: three dresses and six coats for women. This was his first order from a major fashion house in New York. Success was not long in coming. Klein's style was well received: purist, timeless, clear lines, discreet colours and fabrics. The simple elegance was convincing and was followed by orders from other fashion houses. In this way, Calvin Klein quickly made a name for itself on the New York fashion scene.
In addition to collections for the fashion industry, Calvin Klein is also a fashion designer. In addition to collections for women, the fashion designer launched other products towards the end of the 1970s. Accessories, perfumes, eyewear and watches were marketed under the Calvin Klein brand name in cooperation with other manufacturers. So it is hardly surprising that the designer soon discovered jeans fashion for himself and his creations. In 1978, Klein presented the first pair of designer jeans bearing his logo.
Today, jeans are sold alongside the Calvin Klein brand. Today, in addition to the haute couture collections for the catwalks in New York (women's fashion) and Milan (men's fashion), there are other independent fashion labels under the Calvin Klein name. These include Calvin Klein Sport and Calvin Klein Underwear. The Calvin Klein Jeans label offers young denim fashion for men, women and children. The wide product range today also includes T-shirts, jumpers, cardigans, jackets and coats as well as shorts, shoes and swimwear. In the men's fashion segment, shirts for business and leisure and suits with the unmistakable ck are available in the company's own shops, outlet shops and online shops in America, Asia and Europe - in short, all over the world.
